I just want to confirm a few things in the NBA that nobody can agree on. This is meant to be the be-all end-all of NBA basketball lists, as the league stands in 2011. Any opinions that sway from the following are wrong. These are the obvious:
The No. 8 Gauchos went 2-1 in three days over the weekend in the Western Women’s Lacrosse League Championship tournament, defeating No. 11 Cal Poly 15-11 to earn a third-place finish. [media-credit name=”Miranda Chrislock” align=”alignleft” width=”166″][/media-credit]After taking a 9-5 lead into halftime, UCSB caught fire early in the second. Senior attack — and four-time WWLL […]
The No. 16 UCSB women’s water polo team split their final two games of the regular season over the weekend, holding off a late surge to beat CSU Long Beach 8-7 Saturday before losing 11-5 to No. 10 UC Irvine on Sunday.
Amidst the NBA playoff insanity, Cincinatti Reds pitcher Mike Leake went to Macy’s and stole ten six-dollar T-shirts. And got caught.
Instead of discussing A.S elections for the whole column, I would first like to state I will proudly be supporting the only practical and serious slate — O.P.P. (Open People’s Party) — in addition to Beau Shaw. With that said, on to the budget battle. Predictably, Democrat demagoguery has reached new lows this week. This […]
The U.S. Federal Government is not a family household. The U.S. Federal Government should not “tighten its belt” during a recession. This is because, unlike the average family household, the Federal Government has obligations — like every American’s health over the age of 65 (Medicare). This spring, all of the Nexus’ student-approved lock-in money is up for reaffirmation — no increase, just the same wonderful three bucks and change that keeps us going today. We ask that this April, you reaffirm our flat fee of $3.85 per quarter. Two years ago, the Daily Nexus received 85 cents a quarter from […]
Humanity stands at a crossroads. For nearly two centuries, human civilization has seen its every facet transformed by the machinery of industrial development. During this period of rapid expansion, we have beheld the gracious power of cheap fossil fuels, namely petroleum oil, as our premier source of energy and electricity. But today we are witnessing crude […]
Today marks the beginning of UCSB’s seventh annual Graduate Student Appreciation Week. The university will host activities to honor graduate students, such as a lecture from Engineer Jean-luc Doumont of the Louvain School of Engineering today at 2 p.m. in Corwin Pavilion. A wine-and-cheese mixer in Davidson Library’s Mary Cheadle Room will follow Doumont’s talk. […]
The La Cumbre Yearbook is asking for students to pay $2.91 more per quarter in voter-approved lock-in fees, in hopes of keeping UCSB’s yearbook in publication. The increase would supplement the $0.84 already charged per undergraduate each quarter and would raise La Cumbre’s total quarterly fee to $3.75 for Fall 2011. Of the proposed $2.91 […]
