UCSB is off to its best start since 2009 after winning the USF tournament in which newcomer Lindsey Ruddins shined and was named MVP.

Three days after their tough 4-2 loss against No. 19 Butler, the UCSB men’s soccer team dropped their second straight against No. 10 Akron in the final match of the Zips’ annual tournament 2-0.
Coming into the game 4-0, UCSB surrendered four goals to No. 19 Butler and was handed its first loss of the season.
The Gauchos have had an exceptional start to the season at 5-0 and will look to extend its winning streak against St. Francis.
After a dominant performance in which it beat the Panthers 4-0, the Gauchos will look to beat the Aggies for their first 5-0 start since 1993.
Hoping to build off of the success of last season, the No. 6 Gauchos, led by senior Mitchell Hamilton and junior Shane Hauschild, kick off the year at the annual Triton Invitational.
The UCSB women's soccer team continues its six-game home stand when it faces off against the University of Pittsburgh tomorrow at 5:30.
