UC Santa Barbara Women’s Basketball dominated against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) in their first game of the season with a 70-26 win. It was the first win for Renee Jimenez as the Gaucho’s head coach. While they gained the lead at the beginning of the first quarter, CMS struggled against the Gaucho’s defense for the rest of the game. They were held to 2 points each in the second and third quarter. The top scorers for the Gaucho’s were number 10, Anya Choice and number 32, Jessica Grant who both put up 12 points. Grant shot 4-9 from the 3-point line. Renee Chong was the top scorer for CMS and was responsible for a majority of the Athenas’ points putting up 15 and shooting 3-6 from the 3-point line.
