Deja Vu Cafe burns

A fire broke out inside Deja Vu Cafe in Isla Vista during the early hours of Aug. 18.
Santa Barbara County (SBC) firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire on the 900 block of Embarcadero del Mar at approximately 5:50 a.m., according to an SBC Fire Department post on X. The block contains multiple businesses including Teddy Rice, Deja Vu Cafe, Chef 81 and Naan Stop.
According to SBC Fire Department Captain Michael Gray, the fire was contained within Deja Vu Cafe and is currently under investigation.

It is always sad to see a beloved local place affected by a fire, especially one that has been part of the community for many years. Hopefully the damage can be repaired quickly and Deja Vu Cafe will return stronger with the same welcoming atmosphere people remember.
