Professional Women’s Association, LUNA, The Collective host Palentines’ Day Coffee Break

The Professional Women’s Association, the Latin@/x UCSB Network Association (LUNA) and The Collective are hosting Palentines’ Day Coffee Break on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Student Resource Building (SRB) Multipurpose Room (MPR).

“Will you be our Palentine? Join the Professional Women’s Association, LUNA, and The Collective for a special coffee break and delicious treats,” the Shoreline description read. 

Coffee and pan dulce will be provided. Students who bring a reusable cup will receive a raffle ticket. 

IVCRC holds Tokens of Love 

The Associated Students Isla Vista Community Relations Committee (IVCRC) is holding Tokens of Love on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Pardall Center.

“With February approaching, the Isla Vista Community Relations Committee is excited to invite you to Tokens of Love, an event dedicated to spreading Valentine’s Day cheer with sweets, crafts, and heartfelt keepsakes,” the Shoreline description read. 

Chocolates will be provided to make personalized assortment gift boxes. Craft stations for Valentine’s cards and fresh flowers will also be available. 

Transfer Student Center hosts Valentine’s Day card decorating 

The Transfer Student Center is hosting Valentine’s Day card decorating on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Transfer Student Center in the UCSB Library room 1584.

“We will be providing materials for you to create handmade love letters and share your love with those you care about!” the Shoreline description read. 

Coffee and sweets will be provided. Students may register using the link in Shoreline to attend. 

Office of DEI hosts “The Inner Work of Racial Justice” by Rhonda Magee

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is hosting “The Inner Work of Racial Justice” by Rhonda Magee as the fourth installment of its lecture series on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 12-1 p.m. at the McCune Conference Room.

“Rhonda V. Magee is a Professor, Emeritus and founding Director of the Center for Contemplative Law and Ethics at the University of San Francisco,” the Shoreline description read.

She will be discussing “how mindfulness and other contemplative practices support engagement in the world” through challenges such as war, climate change and political polarization. Students may register on Shoreline to attend. 

Women’s Center holds Feminist Book Club 

The Women’s Center is holding its Feminist Book Club on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 1-2 p.m. at the SRB Women’s Center Community Room, room 1220.

“Come meet new people and discuss a new book with the Women’s Center! Whether you are an avid reader or want to start reading for leisure, you are welcomed!” the Shoreline description read.

The book for this quarter is “Against the Loveless World” by Susan Abulhawa. The first 10 people to register on Shoreline will receive a free copy of the book. 

Non-Traditional Student Resource Center hosts Valentine’s Day crafts 

The Non-Traditional Student Resource Center is hosting a Valentine’s Day crafts event on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Storke Family Student Housing Community Center.

“Crafts include heart-themed cards and flowers. This event is intended for UCSB student parents and their children, but open to all!” the Shoreline description read. 

Supplies will be provided, students may register at the link in Shoreline to attend.  

RCSGD, Drag Club holds Drag Slam

The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD) and Drag Club are holding Drag Slam on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 7-9 p.m. at the SRB MPR.

“Drag Slam is a brand new event hosted by both Drag Club and the RCSGD allowing all students to give a 5-10 minute presentation on a topic of their choosing. Topics can be anything you wish as long as they are appropriate for a general audience,” the Shoreline description read.

International Student Association hosts international mocktail social 

The International Student Association is hosting an international mocktail social on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the SRB first floor conference room.

“This event is the perfect opportunity for international students to connect and mix, just like the ingredients of a mocktail,” the Shoreline description read. 

City-themed mocktails, board games and movies will be available. 

Santa Rosa Residence Hall holds Sex Toy Bingo

Santa Rosa Residence Hall is holding Sex Toy Bingo on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 8-10 p.m. at Santa Rosa Residence Hall Main Lounge.

“Join us to play a fun sexual health themed bingo game and win prizes including toys, self care items (like face masks), or emergency contraceptives,” the Shoreline description read. 

Other prizes including condoms and lubricant will also be provided to winners. 

UCSB Sustainability hosts Valentine’s Bloom: Bouquet Making

UCSB Sustainability is hosting Valentine’s Bloom: Bouquet Making on Friday, Feb. 14, from 12-1 p.m. at the University United Methodist Church Garden.

“Celebrate the season of love in a serene, beautiful setting. As well as taking time to appreciate your love for nature. Share the joy with a friend, partner, or come solo to meet new people. Let the tranquility of the garden inspire your creativity,” the Shoreline description read. 

Participants will be able to use locally grown flowers from the garden to make bouquets. Students may register at the link in Shoreline to attend. 

I.V. Small Artists Co-op holds Jewelry Design & Repair Workshop

I.V. Small Artists Co-op is holding a Jewelry Design & Repair Workshop on Friday, Feb. 14, from 4-6 p.m. at the Isla Vista Community Center.

“You are invited to Isla Vista Small Artists Co-op’s first community-led workshop of 2025! Learn how to make your own earrings, bracelets, or necklaces, as well as how to repair your own jewelry,” the Shoreline description read.

Materials and snacks will be provided. This event is free for all attendees, but participants are encouraged to donate to help cover material costs. 

Health & Wellness hosts Palentine’s: Crocheting for Cuties

Health & Wellness is hosting Palentine’s: Crocheting for Cuties on Friday, Feb. 14, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Women’s Lounge in the SRB.

“Join us for some crocheting this Palentine’s Day! Learn how to crochet with Health and Wellness, meet new people in an activity guided by the Mental Health Peers,” the Shoreline description read.

UCSB Sustainability holds Meet Your Neighbors — Volunteer and Pizza Party

UCSB Sustainability is holding “Meet Your Neighbors — Volunteer and Pizza Party” on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 12:30-2 p.m. at the retirement community Friendship Manor. 

“We are hoping for volunteers to help hand out pizza to residents at the Friendship Manor and then join residents for lunch. There will be riveting multi-generational conversations and a chance to meet new friends,” the Shoreline description read.

A.S. Environmental Affairs Board and Santa Barbara History Museum’s Sea Center host beach cleanup 

The Associated Students (A.S.) Environmental Affairs Board and Santa Barbara History Museum’s Sea Center are hosting a beach cleanup on Sunday, Feb. 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at East Beach in Santa Barbara.

“Come participate in the greater SB community and clean up a beautiful local beach,” the Shoreline description read.

Snacks, buckets, gloves and trash grabbers will be provided but attendees are encouraged to bring their own. Students may register on Shoreline to attend. The group will be carpooling there and back from Lot 23.

A.S. Media Center and Creative Media Unit hold Intro to Portrait Photography 

A.S. Media Center and A.S. Creative Media Unit are holding an Intro to Portrait Photography class on Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 3-4:30 p.m. at the A.S. Media Center building 434, room 141.

“Come learn some basic skills for taking photographs of people,” the Shoreline description read.

Sierra Madre Villages and San Joaquin Villages are holding a Black Scholars Soirée on Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 6-10 p.m. at The Club & Guest House.

“In order to bridge the gap between two communities during Black History Month, we invite students, faculty, and staff to join an event to celebrate Black excellence at the Black Scholars Soirée,” the Shoreline description read.

RCSGD is hosting Love, Laughter, and Friends on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the SRB RCSGD lounge.

“A space for QTBIPOC to be in community and discuss the complexities and joys of friendships,” the Shoreline description read. “This is a great space for QTBIPOC students and community members to meet each other, ask questions, and have fun. Come yap with us!”

Health & Wellness is holding Hormones, Health, & Healing on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the SRB MPR.

“Join us for an engaging panel on hormones, health, and healing, featuring experts in the field. Discover how hormones shape your well-being and gain practical tips for fostering internal balance and healing,” the Shoreline description read.

Arts & Lectures hosts DoosTrio 

UCSB Arts & Lectures is hosting music group DoosTrio on Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 8-10 p.m. at Campbell Hall.

“Kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor, pipa star Wu Man and tabla master Sandeep Das join together in a new collaboration that highlights the ancient traditions of Iran, China and India in a distinctly 21st century program,” the Shoreline description read.
