The Edible Campus Program is hosting a “How to Grow Your Own Salad at Home!” workshop on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 1-2 p.m. at the UCSB Greenhouse and Garden Project.

“Ready to bring fresh, homegrown flavors to your table? Join us for an exciting hands-on planting experience where you’ll learn to grow all the vibrant ingredients for a mouthwatering salad right at home!” the Shoreline description read.

This event is open to all students and community members of all gardening experience levels. 

Women’s Center holds New Year Vision Boarding

Women’s Center is holding a New Year Vision Boarding event on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Women’s Center in the Student Resource Building (SRB).

“Join us to create your 2025 vision board and participate in a journaling session to set your new year intentions at the Women’s Center,” the Shoreline description read. 

Snacks and drinks will be provided.

UCSB Reads hosts book giveaway

UCSB Reads is hosting a book giveaway to students on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 2-4 p.m. at the library. 

“The Chancellor, Executive Vice Chancellor, and Interim University Librarian will hand out free copies of the UCSB Reads 2025 book to UCSB students,” the Shoreline description read. 

This year’s book selection is “The Book of Delights: Essays” by Ross Gay. Books will be given until supplies last. 

RJP, S.C.O.R.E. hold Advancing Racial Equity Through Restorative Practices

The Restorative Justice Program (RJP) and the Associated Students Student Commission on Racial Equity (S.C.O.R.E.) are holding an Advancing Racial Equity Through Restorative Practices event on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the MultiCultural Center (MCC) Lounge. 

“Let’s work together to create a safer and connected UCSB community that focuses on healing and learning rather than punishment,” the Shoreline description read. 

Restorative justice framework, applications and racial equity are among the topics that will be covered. Students may register on Shoreline in order to attend.

The Edible Campus Program is hosting a Meditation Workshop for Creating a Soul Space on Friday, Jan. 17, from 10-11 a.m. at the University United Methodist Church Garden. 

“Cultivate mindfulness and inner clarity, Discover a lasting tool for emotional balance and mental calm, Enjoy a welcoming and peaceful space to deepen your practice,” the Shoreline description read. 

Students of all meditative experience levels are welcome to attend. 

Health & Wellness holds Rejuvenation Station

Health & Wellness is holding a Rejuvenation Station on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 3-5 p.m. at the SRB room 1220. 

“The Rejuvenation Station is a drop-in space where students can unwind and immerse in self-care,” the Shoreline description read. 

Tea, mindful activities and mini-massages will be provided to students. 

OISS hosts “Trivia with All Languages Language Exchange!”

Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) is hosting “Trivia with All Languages Language Exchange!” on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the SRB third floor forum. 

“Whether you’re a seasoned linguaphile or just curious about learning a new language, this bi-monthly event is the perfect place to connect with students, staff, and faculty who share your passion for languages and global cultures,” the Shoreline description read. 

Activities include trivia, language practice and cultural exchange. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. 

Interdisciplinary Humanities Center holds Humanities Decanted

The Interdisciplinary Humanities Center is holding Humanities Decanted, a dialogue with Daina Sanchez of the Chicana and Chicano Studies, on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Humanities and Social Sciences Building room 6020. 

“Sanchez examines how Indigenous Oaxacan youth form racial, ethnic, community, and national identities away from their ancestral homeland,” the Shoreline description read.

Sanchez will be discussing her new book, “The Children of Solaga: Indigenous Belonging across the U.S.-Mexico Border.” 

MCC hosts “MCC Community Forum: Diversity, Belonging, and Empowerment”

The MCC is hosting a community forum about diversity, belonging and empowerment on Tuesday, Jan. 21, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the MCC Lounge. 

“Together, we’ll focus on themes of diversity, belonging, and empowerment, fostering dialogue that will shape future MCC programming under the Holistic Safety Plan. Be part of creating supportive spaces for connection and resilience on our campus,” the Shoreline description read. 

Dinner will be provided. 

MCC holds “Holistic Safety Plan Community Series – A Ki To Be Free”

The MCC is holding “A Ki To Be Free” as part of its Holistic Safety Plan Community Series on Wednesday, Jan. 22 from 12-1 p.m. at the MCC Lounge. 

“This series invites you to bring your lunch, voice, and ideas as we explore meaningful questions and the projects initiated by the MCC’s Community Forum,” the Shoreline description read.

The MCC will hold events as part of this series every Wednesday at noon from Jan. 22 to March 5.
