The Isla Vista Community Services District (IVCSD) governs the unincorporated area of Isla Vista and is dedicated to providing community services and resources related to public safety, housing, parking, public infrastructure and quality of life.

IVCSD Director Ethan Bertrand resigned from his position on Dec. 14, 2022 to serve in his newly elected role as Goleta Unified School District Trustee. IVCSD Board of Directors voted to fill the vacant seat by appointment at the Jan. 10 meeting. The vacancy must be filled within 60 days of Dec. 14, 2022.

The person appointed to the vacant seat would serve for the remainder of Bertrand’s four-year term, set to expire December 2024.

To qualify as a candidate, applicants must live in I.V. for the duration of their term, be a United States citizen and be at least 18 years old. Candidates should submit a resume and letter of intent as their application and are encouraged to provide letters of recommendation.
