Every year, it seems like the same movies are released over and over again under different names. You’ve got the classic love stories, the routine sitcom-y jokes, a stoner movie, some Oscar bait and another superhero sequel. So here are some movies that we would like to see on our Netflix queue to mix it up a little.

 

1. Sunday Night Dinner

Martha and Jake are bored newlyweds in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. After reading the infamously raunchy Forty Shades of Red, Martha suggests spicing up their sex life by adding another couple into the mix. With the help of friend Chris, they inadvertently start a neighborhood orgy ring that they eventually expand into a business in an attempt to save their house.

Things take a turn when Anne is recruited to join the mafia and is sent on a mission to kill the Queen.

 

3. The Photographer

In the early ‘90s, Mark receives seven numbered rolls of film in the mail one day with no note and no return address. Curious, he gets them developed. The pictures are all of him. The dates on the photos start one week in the future. The last photo is of his corpse. As the events in the photos begin happening, Mark must find the photographer before it’s too late. (Spoiler: The photographer was him all along)

It’s a classic story of boy meets girl. Lyla and Jim meet at a train station going home for Christmas break and are separated before numbers can be exchanged. In a burst of bravery, she posts on Yik Yak about the cute guy from the train station, and lo and behold, he responds. Their relationship unfolds over a series of sporadic texts, Facebook stalks and chance Tinder encounters in a love story for the modern age.
