The best way to differentiate between those who critically think and those who read the back of the cereal box for its literary value is to ask the following:

Which is more cliche? Comparing something to Nazism, or comparing something to George Orwell’s 1984 (including Big Brother, doublespeak, etc)?

If they say 1984, then they’ve probably read “Politics and the English Language” and recognize the irony of making a work of Orwell’s a cliche itself. They’re also probably really lame.

If they say, “Isn’t claiming that either is a cliche a fascist assumption?” you have every right to papercut them using the Weatherbox.
