Looking for live music this Saturday to start your partying on the right note? Need some rock to help shake off that troubling hangover? Well, look no further, because it’s time for a ride down Route One Eleven this Halloween weekend.

Headlining Spring Break 2005 at Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina is an astounding accomplishment for any up-and-coming musician, but when the Bay Area-based alternative-rock band Route 111 awed the crowd at the famed musician’s Cabo San Lucas night club last spring, they discovered an even greater gift – the ability to throw one hell of a raging party.

So, how do you top a week in Mexico filled with booze, bikinis and limitless supplies of rock ‘n’ roll? Well, Route 111 thought the answer to that was a no-brainer; just hit up the best Halloween party the world has to offer. Destination: Isla Vista, 6500 Del Playa Dr., to be exact. When: this Saturday starting at 2 p.m. Their mission: play until the urge to get plastered outweighs the need for electric riffs and pounding beats.

Originally planning to plug in their amps at 6 o’clock and give the costume-clad nightlife a reason to escape the ridiculously crowded streets, the band had to change its plans when they heard about the I.V. Foot Patrol’s 6 o’clock Halloween noise ordinance. But that’s not stopping Route 111 from kicking out the jams. The solution: they’re just going to start the party four hours earlier. Why not? All Hallows’ Eve should be an all-day, all-weekend event, shouldn’t it?

Thus, this Halloween looks to serve as a much-needed break from hours of tiresome studio recording, a showcase for brand new songs from Route 111’s latest CD, as well as another chance to show off their massive arsenal of cover songs (which range from the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd to Sublime). While mixing in their own sound and style, (something reminiscent of 3 Doors Down meets Velvet Revolver) all the band can really hope for is weather appropriate for such a celebration of rock ‘n’ roll at is finest.

So, bring your best pair of moshing shoes and your stumbling friends to the start of DP this Saturday for an early evening to kick your night off right. And for those still skeptical, tracks can be found on the web at www.RouteOneEleven.com.
