UC Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department have identified 13 new COVID-19 cases stemming from “two separate clusters” in privately owned fraternity and sorority houses in Isla Vista, according to an emergency notification sent out by the university early Friday evening.

Both houses, which were not identified in the notification, are currently under quarantine orders by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department, according to the notification. The individuals who tested positive have also been in self-isolation, the notification continued.

“The university is working closely with public health officials to determine whether there are members of the campus community who need to be advised about their contact with these individuals,” the notification read.
