Woman Raped in Isla Vista

On Sunday, Dec. 7, an unidentified man kidnapped a woman and raped her in an I.V. laundry room. The victim told sheriff’s deputies the man held her at knifepoint and only spoke to her in Spanish.

The suspect is described as a 28- to 30-year-old Hispanic male, approximately 5’8″ and 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Goleta Robbery

On Wednesday, Dec. 10, a man walked into the South Coast Community Federal Credit Union on Calle Real with a handgun and demanded money .

The man received an undisclosed amount of money and fled the bank. Shortly after leaving the scene, a red dye pack in the bundle of money exploded and the man dropped some of the money.

The suspect fled the scene in a silver Honda Civic with tinted windows. He is a described as a white male in his 40s, approximately 5’7″ and 150 pounds.

Woman Dies After Fall From Cliff

On Sunday, Dec. 21, Kerri Lynn Becke fell off of a 70-foot cliff at the Douglas Family Preserve on the Santa Barbara Mesa. Becke was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Becke was with her boyfriend at the time. The boyfriend, whose name was not released, was questioned by sheriff’s deputies but taken into custody for an unrelated warrant.

Becke was a resident of Santa Barbara and a mother of two.

Couple Arrested for Rincon Burglary

On Monday, Dec. 29, Louis Kelly Kimes and Diann Renee Elliott were arrested for a burglary that occurred earlier the same day at Rincon Beach. The victim flagged down a deputy and described the red, lowered pickup truck the couple was driving. The truck was spotted at the Loon Point parking lot in Summerland.

Kimes and Elliott were booked into the county jail, and bail was set at $10,000 each. All of the stolen items were recovered except for a small amount of cash.

Kimes was also charged with possession of burglary tools and narcotics paraphernalia. Elliott, who initially provided the officer with a false name, had a no-bail warrant issued by the Dept. of Corrections. Elliott was booked on the warrant and for providing false information to an officer.
