The Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the death of 20-year-old Lompoc resident Ryan Dixon-Williams.

At 2:06 Wednesday morning, sheriff’s deputies arrived at the Days Inn at 3955 Apollo Way in Vandenburg Village, an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County north of Lompoc. Allegedly, Dixon-Williams and three 20-year-old women were not guests of the motel, but had entered the motel’s pool area, where they were drinking alcohol. The Sheriff’s Dept. did not disclose the names of the women.

When Dixon-Williams lost consciousness while in the pool, a bystander called 911. Fire crews and paramedics attempted to resuscitate him. Dixon-Williams was then transported to Lompoc Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead.

An autopsy performed by a coroner Wednesday afternoon did not reveal a definitive cause for the victim’s death. Investigators are now awaiting the results of a toxicology report.
