In a drug bust in Isla Vista last Thursday, two suspects were arrested for possession for sale of cocaine and ecstasy.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Dept. narcotics and gang units found approximately 1,500 ecstasy pills and over 3 ounces of cocaine in a residence on the 6500 block of Cordoba. The drugs have an estimated street value of $8,000, and authorities found an additional $7,200 in cash while serving the search warrant.

After locating the narcotics, detectives arrested 22-year-old David Reed and 23-year-old Joseph DeJesus and charged both suspects with possession for sale of cocaine and ecstasy. Reed is an Isla Vista resident, but authorities believe DeJesus lives in Northern California and visits Isla Vista to sell narcotics on the weekends. Both suspect’s Facebook profiles indicate they are students at SBCC.

The search warrant and subsequent arrests were the result of the sheriff’s department’s month-long investigation into narcotics sales in I.V.
