Thursday (5/10): Father’s day may be a while off, but it’s never too early to explore the Santa Barbara Contemporary Art Forum’s latest addition – Danish artist Jakob S. Boeskov’s Dad. This multimedia work deals with male behavior, war, politics, biotechnology, globalization and Danish culture. The forum’s hours are Monday through Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5p.m., and it is located in the Paseo Nuevo Mall on State Street.

Friday (5/11): Start your Friday night off with some hot romantic comedy action, as Magic Lantern Films presents “Music & Lyrics” at I.V. Theater. The film stars Hugh Grant as a has-been pop star, and Drew Barrymore as the quirky charmer who helps him come back from post-’80s obscurity. Screenings start at 7 and 9:30 p.m., and tickets are just $4.

Saturday (5/12): Sample something exotic tonight, as the Chookasian Armenian Concert Ensemble presents a traditional Armenian concert program of classical, folkloric and troubador music. The concert runs in the MultiCultural Center Theater from 8 to 10:30 p.m., and tickets are $5 for students.

Sunday (5/13): Travel to Indonesia without leaving campus tonight, as the UCSB Gamelan Ensemble shows off their pipes in the Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall. This group plays traditional Indonesian music, and will be accompanied by special guest dancers performing the drama “Panji Candrakirana.” The show starts at 5 p.m., and tickets are $7 for students.

Monday (5/14): Author and environmentalist Paul Hawken will be speaking at the Lobero Theater tonight, courtesy of UCSB Arts & Lectures. Hawken’s latest book, Blessed Unrest, chronicles the recent growth in worldwide environmental and social justice movements. The free lecture starts at 8 p.m., and Hawken will be signing books afterwards.

Tuesday (5/15): Check out ballet with some serious Spanish flair, as the Compania Nacional de Danza 2 shows off their moves in Campbell Hall tonight. This company from Spain combines classical ballet with contemporary dance. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $20 for UCSB students.
