Thursday (3/8): Unwind tonight with a little night music, as the University Wind Ensemble presents a concert featuring works by Robert Washburn, Gordon Jacob, Vincent Persichetti, Eric Ewazen, Samuel Hazo and Eric Whitacre. The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Lotte Lehmann Concert Hall, and tickets are available at the door.

Friday (3/9): Take in a double feature of unique Japanese films tonight, thanks to the fine folks at Magic Lantern Films. “Battle Royale” is about a group of high school students engaged in a brutal kill-or-be-killed game on the requisite deserted island, and the anime film “Mind Game” deals with everything from violence, sex and love to redemption and relationships. Screenings start at 7 and 9:30 p.m. at I.V. Theater.

Saturday (3/10): Today is your last chance to check out classical cellist extraordinaire Yo-Yo Ma performing with the renowned Silk Road Ensemble at the Arlington Theatre. The 4 p.m. performance is part of the Silk Road Project, which aims to bring together artists from Asia, the Middle East and the West in creative collaborations. Tickets to this highly-anticipated event start at just $21.50 for UCSB students.

Sunday (3/11): Oops, they did it again. Theatre UCSB presents yet another play, with Anton Chekhov’s “Three Sisters.” Today is the closing day, so check out this work about women striving for better lives at 2 or 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Theatre before it’s gone.

Monday (3/12): Can’t wait until critically-acclaimed dance company Chunky Move comes to UCSB on Wednesday? Check out its unique techniques at a dance workshop featuring the company at the Santa Barbara Jazz Dance Academy. The 5:30 p.m. technique class is located at 1 North Calle Cesar Chavez, and tickets are $15 for participants and just $5 for observers. More information is available at 966-6950.

Tuesday (3/13): Whether you’re inspired by Yo-Yo Ma or just looking to learn a little something outside lecture, check out Santa Barbara Symphony Director Maestro Nir Kabaretti at the UCen Flying A Studio today. Kabaretti will discuss the current state of classical music during the 4 p.m. lecture, as well as his personal goals for the Santa Barbara Symphony.

Wednesday (3/14): Make your way down to Campbell Hall tonight, to check out one of the most innovative dance companies currently touring the world. Chunky Move hails from Australia, and it is renowned for its unique multimedia performances. The company will be performing their work “I Want to Dance Better at Parties,” based on a documentary about the relationship between five men and the art of dance, at 8 p.m. tonight. Tickets are just $19 for students thanks to Arts & Lectures.
