Rainbow Kitten Surprise rocks the Santa Barbara Bowl

American indie rock band Rainbow Kitten Surprise took the stage by storm at Santa Barbara Bowl on July 19, delivering an unforgettable performance during their bones tour. 

The concert opened with Spacey Jane, an up-and-coming Australian indie rock band, whose heartfelt yet melodic music eased the audience into the evening before Rainbow Kitten Surprise’s more dynamic style took over. Fans sang their hearts out to their hit songs, including “Whateverrr,” “Hardlight,” “Booster Seat” and their new release, “I Never See Her.”

After an intermission and as the sun set over the Santa Barbara hills, Rainbow Kitten Surprise took the stage, delivering their classic hits, including “Cocaine Jesus,” “First Class,” “Never Have I Ever” and “Goodnight Chicago.” Midway through the show, the band surprised the audience with a cover of “Mr. Brightside” and the audience belted the lyrics to the timeless song.

As the show came to a close, Rainbow Kitten Surprise ended the night with their most famous song, “It’s Called: Freefall.” While some fans were serenaded as they climbed down the hilly terrain of Santa Barbara Bowl to their cars in hopes of beating traffic, others stayed behind to watch the final song in person. Regardless of where they ended up, everyone could say that the night was truly magical.
