Officers at the Isla Vista Foot Patrol are currently looking for a suspect in an attempted rape reported by an unidentified woman Sunday.

IVFP Sgt. Cindy Galante said the victim of the sexual assault was allegedly attacked at approximately 2:45 Sunday morning after the suspect led her behind an I.V. business. Galante said the IVFP is still searching for a suspect, and that the victim has received counseling following the incident.

UC Police Dept. Cpl. Zak Ayala said the woman met the suspect outside of her residence, and invited him inside her home when he asked for a glass of water. Ayala said the woman then agreed to walk the man to his residence.

When the two reached a secluded location, Ayala said, the man allegedly pushed the victim to the ground and tried to remove her clothes before possibly digitally penetrating her.

Ayala said the victim fought back, and after a struggle, the suspect fled.

Galante said the woman immediately reported the assault to the IVFP and the investigation is still ongoing.
