THURSDAY OCTOBER 27th: To make up for their previously cancelled engagement, rockers Paint the Town hit Storke Plaza today at noon. Brought to you by those thoughtful folk at AS Program Board, the show marks another free-for-all lunchtime gathering of the musical variety.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 28th: There’s nothing scarier than Johnny Depp doing his best Michael Jackson impressions for the sake of candy-hungry 11-year olds everywhere. Tonight Magic Lantern Films is sponsoring two screenings of the summer blockbuster “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” to kick Halloween weekend off right. Directed by the perpetually creepy Tim Burton, the film promises to satisfy your appetite for all things sticky and delicious. The film shows at both 7:00 and 9:30 p.m in I.V. Theatre and admission is $4.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 29th: If you’re looking for an I.V. alternative, head no further than the Santa Barbara Courthouse tonight for the Contemporary Arts Forum’s annual Black and Orange Bash. Boasting a $1000 jackpot for best costume, “living works of art” and a dance par-tay to boot, this fiesta looks to be worth the $40 admission rate. SUNDAY OCTOBER 30th: Reunion time! Sure to incite another wave of eighties nostalgia, new wave innovators Bauhaus are out to prove (yet again) that they can still rock out with the best of ’em. MONDAY OCTOBER 31st: You can’t go wrong with a rockabilly show by the HorrorPops to help round out your weekend of ghouls, ghosts and inebriation. Tonight at 7 the band brings their own special brand of scare tactics and punk excitement to the Glass House stage. TUESDAY NOVEMBER 1st: Arts & Lectures hosts folk legend Arlo Guthrie’s performance tonight at 8 in Campbell Hall. Tickets are $45 general admission and $19 for students. The concert will be preceded by a free meet-the-artist Q & A forum at the Old Little Theatre in the College of Creative Studies at noon.
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 2nd: Tonight at 7:30 “My Summer of Love” will be screening in Campbell Hall. Emily Blunt and Nathalie Press star in the story of two young girls struggling to deal with their respective families in England while finding camaraderie amongst each other. Tickets are $5 for students.
