Police identified the suspect as 20-year-old Jackson Kyle Jue, a resident of Isla Vista. He was charged with attempted homicide, robbery and assault. He is currently being held without bail at the Martinez Detention Facility in Contra Costa County.
According to Reyes, the University of California Police Department (UCPD) at Berkeley and UCSB, the city of Concord Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Task Force collaborated on the arrest effort.
According to UCSB Timely Warnings, the suspect allegedly shot an unidentified woman who sustained non-life-threatening injuries at the Los Carneros Road and El Colegio Road bike path late Wednesday night. He also allegedly robbed an adult male on the 6500 block of Cervantes Road.
Reyes said Jue is not a UCSB student. No further information about the suspect has been released.
UCPD issued a shelter-in-place order at 11:22 p.m. Wednesday night, which stayed in place until 3:07 a.m.
Police investigated the area around the Santa Ynez Apartments and parts of Isla Vista for five hours, but were unable to find the suspect after detaining two individuals, according to police scanner correspondence. UCPD did not confirm to the Nexus if they are still in custody.
The Nexus will continue reporting on this topic as more information becomes available.
