Drake has announced that he has purchased a ticket to the Super Bowl to see Kendrick Lamar perform during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, despite his tour having a show scheduled for that same day in Australia.

This was revealed via Drake’s Instagram account, with a story post of a picture of Drake sporting a blue pgLAng hat and a Shohei Ohtani jersey captioned “Certified Fanboy” followed by a video of Drake saying the following:

“I just hope we can put this behind us and that Kendrick doesn’t make anymore diss tracks. I know we have some songs together, so maybe there could be a good ending and we all forget this ever happened.”

It is still unclear as to whether or not Drake will still be performing in Australia, but what is clear is that Drake seems to have taken his loss and fallen back. This news comes out just weeks after Drake’s announcement that he intends to sue Universal Music Group (UMG) for defamation and artificially boosting streaming numbers for Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” At this point in his career, Drake is used to his name being in the same sentence as “artificially boosted streaming numbers,” but this time he’s the one accusing someone else of doing it. “We know a thing or two because we’ve seen a thing or two.” said Drake, probably.

While the lawsuit is still in development as we speak, Drake’s OV-Hoe camp has claimed that they’ve received a fax message from UMG regarding the lawsuit with the simple message, addressed to Drake: “Come on, bro. Give it up.”

It seems counterintuitive that Drake is buying a ticket to see Lamar while in the midst of a legal battle, but Drake had this to say about that: “I mean, the song still slaps.”

For Australia’s sake, let’s hope Drake goes through with attending Lamar’s show instead of his own.
