The Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Water Rescue Team and Sheriff’s Office responded to a call made at approximately 5:16 p.m. on Monday, May 1, about a foil surfer believed to be in distress due to heavy winds, according to County Fire Battalion Chief Scot Alderete.

In search of the surfer, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department deployed four jet skis and a drone at Goleta Beach, and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office deployed a helicopter.

After an approximately 45-minute search, the surfer was found to be unharmed at Leadbetter Beach, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Department Public Information Officer Scott Safechuck.
