Transfer Student Center Hosts Mini Canvas Painting Social for Transfer Students 

The Transfer Student Center is hosting a Mini Canvas Painting social on Thursday, May 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Transfer students are invited to paint mini canvases with fellow peers and socialize while painting. 

Tea will be provided during the event, and students can register on Shoreline to see the location for the social. 

One Body SB Hosts The TakeOver: One Love with Open Mic Host Vivian Storm 

One Body SB, Associated Students, MultiCultural Center, Black Student Union and Office of Black Student Development is hosting an Open Mic event on Friday, May 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Storke Plaza. The Open Mic will be hosted by drag queen Vivian Storm to “showcase the vibrance, beauty, and strengths of our community,” the Shoreline description read.

Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity Hosts Healing Through Painting Social

The Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD) is hosting a Healing Through Painting social on Friday, May 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the RCSGD lounge. This event is a part of the center’s Indigiqueer/Two-Spirit Hours — a weekly event meant to hold space for queer Indigenous and Two-Spirit students at UCSB.

All painting materials will be provided, and those interested can register on Shoreline to attend. 

Melanin Gala: Black Student Union Hosts Spring Formal Dance for Black Students

Black Student Union (BSU), Black Women’s Health Collaborative and the Office of Black Student Development is hosting a spring formal dance “The Melanin Gala,” this Friday, May 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Goleta. 

The theme for the dance is “Black Luxury,” and formal attire is required for the event. 

“Come out dressed to impress … for a night full of food, dancing, and Melanin,” BSU’s Instagram post description read.

Every student registered for the dance will be entered into a drawing of raffle prizes and gift cards. Students can order tickets here.

Armenian Student Association Hosts All Armenian Students Sports Tournament 

Armenian Student Association is hosting their annual All Armenian Association games this Saturday and Sunday, May 28 and 29 respectively, starting at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and concluding at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. 

Every year all of the ASA’s get together for an end of the year All- ASA Games in order to promote cultural unity and teamwork through recreational sports,” the Shoreline description read. “This is a friendly exhibition game that participants partake in as an end-of-the-year tradition.”

WORD Magazine Hosts Annual WORDSTOCK 

WORD Magazine is hosting their annual celebration of art, music and culture at WORDSTOCK this Saturday, May 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the I.V. Community Center. 

The event will host tie-dye and face painting activities, along with a mural painting in collaboration with Thriving Initiative and a performance by Meerkats.
