The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department lifted the beach closure instated between Ocean Road and Camino Pescadero Park today.

The closure was initially issued by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (SBCPHD) on May 19 due to “a release of an unknown quantity of sewage to a storm drain discharging near Pelican Park in Isla Vista,” according to the May 19 press release. All recreational water contact was prohibited.

The ocean water has now been tested and approved safe for recreational use, according to the May 25 SBCPHD press release.
