The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office and UC Santa Barbara’s Police Department responded to two incidents allegedly perpetrated by the same individual on Feb. 28 — an attempted kidnapping in Isla Vista and sexual battery near the West Campus Family Housing.
After an hours-long search, law enforcement was unable to locate the individual and has now begun an investigation. Law enforcement will also be increasing patrols at UCSB and in Isla Vista.
The suspect has been described as a 5-foot-10-inch white male in his 20s with a thin body build and mid-length dark brown hair. The suspect was said to be wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, driving either a late-90s gold Toyota Camry or gray Honda Civic.
The university asked students to exercise caution and not walk alone. UCSB also encouraged students to make use of Community Safety Officers who can escort students living in Isla Vista back to their residence.
sexual predators run amok in isla vista and ucsb. Defund the police is working well!
What defunding are you talking about, officer? I have not read of any defunding in SB County.
The money is from the UC not the county. Ask the chancellors office or look at UC President Drake’s realignment plans that are in effect. It’s all online.
