UC Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department have identified 13 new COVID-19 cases stemming from “two separate clusters” in privately owned fraternity and sorority houses in Isla Vista, according to an emergency notification sent out by the university early Friday evening.
Both houses, which were not identified in the notification, are currently under quarantine orders by the Santa Barbara County Public Health Department, according to the notification. The individuals who tested positive have also been in self-isolation, the notification continued.
“The university is working closely with public health officials to determine whether there are members of the campus community who need to be advised about their contact with these individuals,” the notification read.
Why not list the two houses? Would that not be a prudent thing to do?
Idiots. Give them all hefty fines, expell them and then bar the greek charters permanently. They knew what they were doing and didn’t care. Consciously throwing parties during a pandemic is a danger to the community and Chancellor Yang needs to set an example.
nowhere does it say they threw a party. Do you know that these houses threw parties or are you just assuming? Many of the packed houses in IV will become clusters if 1 person in the house catches it. Most because IV living is garbage 12 people packed in a 3 bedroom. Of course cramped small housing will lead to lots of transmission.
