A UC Santa Barbara student and Isla Vista resident was arrested on Saturday for false imprisonment and corporal injury of a spouse/cohabitant/date, according to police arrest logs.

Alan Liu, 21, was arrested by Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office (SBSO) deputies around 8 p.m. Saturday night on the 6500 block of Seville Road in I.V.

False imprisonment is defined as the “unlawful violation of the personal liberty of another,” according to the California legislative information website.

He was booked on a $50,000 bail and is currently in custody.

Liu is scheduled to be a full time student with junior standing for Fall Quarter 2018, according to the UCSB student verification website.

SBSO spokesperson Kelly Hoover could not release additional details.

Alan Liu has been known to be abusive towards his girlfriend. I have people who live very close to him hearing him yelling at his girlfriend and stomping on the ground at night consistently. I really hope he gets what he deserves

If you don’t have the full information or any direct sources then please don’t spread rumors. This article does provide enough information for you to make groundless assumption about someone.

Corporal injury is serious. It means he beat his girlfriend and she sustained serious injury. IV police are very fair in domestic violence cases, so His bail would not be so high unless his violence was uncalled for and he was a danger. Can we have more information on this?

Yes, but bail is set based on analysis of the police report made at the arrest
