UC Santa Barbara students have long pined for a closer Target than the one over 40 miles away in Ventura. After a long time coming, Target announced Monday that it would be opening a location in Goleta in 2019.

The store will operate at the intersection of Hollister Avenue and Storke Road, replacing the K-Mart in Storke Plaza.

The location is approximately two miles from the UCSB campus.

The store is set to be the second Target in Santa Barbara opening in 2019, with another location secured for the intersection of State Street and La Cumbre Road at 3891 State Street.

The State Street location was announced in early January.

The Goleta location touts an approximate 117,000 square feet and plans to offer clothing, fresh goods, home decor and health and beauty sections among several others, according to the official Target website.
