VOTING ON GOLD BEGINS SOON

UC Santa Barbara’s Associated Students Elections voting will begin on April 23 at 8 p.m. Students have the opportunity to vote their peers into senatorial positions as well as five executive positions. The NewCen project will also be on the ballot; the project would drastically remodel the current university center as well as raise student fees. In addition, several existing fees will be up for reaffirmation. Voting continues until April 26 at 4 p.m., at which time the polls will close.

 

PRINCESS MONONOKE MEETING

The Isla Vista Food Co-op will screen Princess Mononoke, a 1997 Japanese animated historical fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The movie centers around issues pertaining to the environment, and the screening will transition into Earth Day weekend! The movie will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and will close around 8:30 p.m. Popcorn will be served, so pull up a chair! The co-op is located at 6575 Seville Rd. in Isla Vista.

 

FREE DENTAL DAY

Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics will team up with the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise on Friday to offer free dental services at the Goleta Neighborhood Dental Clinic. Dentists, health professionals and community volunteers from the Santa Barbara County area will be gathered at 164 Kinman Avenue to offer treatments including exams, x-rays, extractions, fillings and cleanings. Patients do not need dental insurance and will be assigned an appointment time at registration. Go get clean teeth!

 

FRAT DOES 911 EMERGENCY PROTOCOL PANEL

UCSB’s fraternity Zeta Beta Tau will hold a 911 emergency protocol panel at I.V. Theater on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. Several representatives from both on and off campus organizations will be there to provide knowledge and first-hand experiences about what happens when an individual calls 911. Any member of the UCSB Greek system who attends will be given SOE credit, but the panel is open to all UCSB students who wish to attend and learn more about calling 911. The theater is located at 960 Embarcadero del Norte, and the panel will close at 6:30 p.m.

 

PITCH PERFECT 3

A.S. Program Board will be showing free films at I.V. Theater on Tuesdays throughout Spring Quarter until May 29. The program board will be showing “Pitch Perfect 3,” directed by Trish Sie, this upcoming Tuesday at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow reprise their roles as Beca, Amy and Chloe, respectively. All starred in “Pitch Perfect” and “Pitch Perfect 2,” a franchise that explores a struggling acapella group. The next movie program board will be showing is “Annihilation” on May 1.
