A UC Santa Barbara student reported an attempted sexual assault on Monday in her room at on-campus student housing, according to a university alert sent out Thursday evening.
The suspect allegedly “refused to leave the victim’s room,” the UCSB Police Department (UCPD) said in the alert. The suspect then used “verbal coercion” and “physical force” in an attempt to have sex with the victim.
The victim got away from the suspect, who eventually left the room. The suspect is known to the victim and is affiliated with the university, according to the alert.
A physical description of the suspect has not been made available.
UCPD is currently investigating the incident. Anyone with information can call 805-893-3446 or use their anonymous tip website.
