This past weekend, Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to several household burglaries and alcohol related incidents in Isla Vista.

According to Lieutenant Ray Vuillemainroy, this weekend was deceptively quiet for the amount of crime that occurred in I.V.

“On Friday night, deputies were called to an interrupted burglary with the suspect still on scene. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with the reporting party, whom advised that he found the suspect in possession of numerous items that belonged to him,” Vuillemainroy said. “The suspect was then taken into custody.”

Another incident was reported on Saturday morning between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on the 700 block of Embarcadero Del Mar after the suspect fled the residence with various items valued at over $1,000.

“The suspect entered through an open window and stole a laptop, $500 in cash and an iPod,” Vuillemainroy said. “The investigation is ongoing.”

The other burglary took place on Saturday night on the 700 block of Camino Del Sur when the perpetrator entered the residence and left with hundreds of dollars worth of electronics.

“The suspect entered through an unlocked front door and stole an iPad Mini from the victim’s kitchen table,” Vuillemainroy said. “The investigation is continuing for this case as well.”

Several alcohol violations were also issued this weekend. Three people were given citations for minors in possession of alcohol, two people were given citations for having an open container in public, four people were given citations for noise ordinance and three people were arrested for being drunk in public.
