Congresswoman Lois Capps and Santa Barbara County Third District Supervisor Doreen Farr will meet with the public at 5 p.m. today to mark the grand opening of Capps’ new Isla Vista campaign office above Silvergreens.

Capps, a longtime resident of Santa Barbara, has represented the 24th Congressional District since the death of her husband, Congressman Walter Capps, in 1998. This November, Capps will run for re-election against former lieutenant governor of California Abel Maldonado. Capps will speak to the public about her involvement in student-related issues, as well as the state of the nation.

Capps spent 20 years involved in Santa Barbara’s community through school nursing and pursuing health reforms. She holds master’s degrees from both Yale and UCSB in religion and education, respectively.

Supervisor Doreen Farr will join Capps at tomorrow’s event, as she is currently campaigning for re-election against four-time contender Steve Pappas. Farr represents the Third District of Santa Barbara County — including Isla Vista, Goleta and Santa Ynez — on the County Board of Supervisors.
