The group of Muslim students arrested for staging a protest during Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren’s 2010 speech at UC Irvine will appear in court next week.

The defendants — eight UC Irvine students and three UC Riverside students known as the “Irvine 11” — each plead not guilty to misdemeanor charges for disturbance of a meeting and conspiracy to disturb a meeting. A judge will rule on several issues during the June 30 hearing at the Santa Ana Court House, including the defense team’s motions to review the issue of selective and discriminatory prosecution.
