The Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to three assaults and several alcohol-related crimes this weekend.

Deputies received the first report of a physical assault on the corner of Del Playa Drive and Camino Pescadero early Saturday morning. According to IVFP Lt. Ray Vuillemainroy, several suspects allegedly attacked a male without provocation.

“The victim stated he was jumped on Del Playa Drive by several black male adults who he would not be able to identify,” Vuillemainroy said. “Photographs were taken of his lip and head, but he requested no further action.”

The second assault occurred on the 6700 block of Sabado Tarde Road early Sunday. Vuillemainroy said deputies encountered the two male suspects brawling in the street.

“One of the suspects picked up a bike and threw it at another male who was challenging him to a fight,” Vuillemainroy said. “Both males began to fight via punching each other. Deputies took the suspect who threw the bike into custody for fighting in public and resisting arrest.”

Another assault was reported on the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive on Sunday. According to Vuillemainroy, a man’s clothes were stolen after he left them unattended on the beach.

“Basically, this guy left his jeans and wallet on the beach while he and a female friend went for a swim,” Vuillemainroy said. “When the victim and his friend ventured back, his property was missing. He asked three Hispanic males nearby if they knew who had taken his pants, and one of them punched him in the face.”

Vuillemainroy said the suspect eventually found his clothes nearby.

“His pants were located in a dumpster on El Embarcadero Road, but his wallet and phone were missing,” Vuillemainroy said. “He chose not to seek prosecution for the assault and theft.”

Officers cited eight individuals for minor in possession, three for open containers, two for violating the county’s Social Host Liability Ordinance and two for noise violations. The IVFP also arrested one person for public intoxication.
