Junior guard Orlando Johnson scored a career-high 39 points and junior forward James Nunnally added 23 of his own on 10-12 shooting in the UCSB men’s basketball team’s 93-86 overtime win at the Thunderdome on Saturday night.

6’8″ Aggie point guard Mark Payne scored 33 points for Davis, which dropped to 3-7 in the Big West. UCSB improved to 5-5.

UCSB overcame the Aggies’ 70.8 percent shooting in the first half. Davis had a 12-point lead with 3:07 left in the first, but the Gauchos went on an 14-4 run to close out the half down by only two points.

Saturday’s game was the Gauchos’ last of a three-game homestand. The team heads to UC Riverside next Thursday to take on the Highlanders and to UC Irvine next Saturday to play the Anteaters.
