Gaucho men’s basketball rode another 40-point performance from its two highest scorers on Saturday to a victory over Big West foes UC Riverside.

Junior guard Orlando Johnson led the way for UCSB, scoring 28 points on 11-16 shooting, including a perfect 7-7 from the field in the first half.

“I was getting some pretty good looks,” Johnson said. “I think a lot of the baskets came from my defensive effort, just trying to get things going.”

Junior forward James Nunnally was the only other Gaucho in double figures, pouring in 19 points and adding seven rebounds. The win was UCSB’s second in as many games, which gives it its first Big West winning streak of this season, despite missing junior forward Jaime Serna’s strength inside while he is sidelined with an injury.

Head Coach Bob Williams’ squad returns to action in a week when it travels to Cal State Fullerton to take on the Titans next Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
