Farmers Markets

As the pale light of a rising sun sweeps over Santa Barbara’s downtown, local farm owners set up tents boasting rows of succulent fruits, vibrantly colored vegetables, assortments of homemade jams, jars of freshly pressed olive oils and bouquets of stunning floral arrangements. Each tent showcases a different specialty for these farmers and speaks of a different passion developed with every harvest. Farmers markets have sprouted all across the country and according to the U.S. Agricultural Marketing Service, have grown an impressive 14 percent since 2004. With the quality of goods offered at these venues, that comes as no surprise. Several farmers markets occur weekly in Santa Barbara County including those in downtown Santa Barbara, Goleta, Montecito, Solvang and Carpinteria. An extensive list of the times and specific locations of these markets can be viewed at http://www.sbfarmersmarket.org/schedule.php.
