A lively group of singers, stand-up comedians and musicians threw down in front of an easy-going crowd last night during Open Mic Night at Giovanni’s.

Gio’s’ third open mic event this quarter featured friendly vibes, lively tunes, lots of laughs and flowing beverages for everyone witnessing the collaboration of creative minds. The standing audience in attendance turned a weekday night in Isla Vista into an electric event.

Fourth-year mechanical engineering major Ace J.R. said both the artists and the crowd brought the funk to Gio’s in rhythmic style.

“I’m colder than a polar bear but I bring it like a solar flare,” J.R. said. “The crowd was bumpin’ and the vibes were jumpin’.”

Second-year history major Jake Spear and second-year chemistry major Dominic Mariano said the performers brought the right ingredients to make Open Mic Night take off.
“All of them had the crowd sing along and get into it,” Spear and Mariano said.
