The UCSB women’s volleyball team came out victorious at home on Friday night against UC Irvine, winning the match 3-1.
The Gauchos, coming off a 3-2 loss to UC Davis, were able to hold off a late comeback by Irvine and pull out the victory at the Thunderdome. UCSB is now 12-9 overall and 6-2 in the Big West. They are currently in second place behind Fullerton.
“Our ultimate goal is to win the Big West,” Coach Kathy Gregory said. “We are trying to compete to be first. We want to make the NCAA tournament, and winning the Big West gives us a great chance at doing so.”
The Gauchos will play Big West foe Cal State Northridge at the Thunderdome tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
