The body of a Santa Barbara woman was found in the early morning hours Thursday, the Santa Barbara Police Dept. said.

The victim, 29-year-old Lisa Marie Zazueta, was found lying dead on the 1300 block of Kowalski Avenue at approximately 12:38 a.m. on Oct. 23. Officers responding to the call said Zazueta had died of a stab wound to the neck.

Officers, with the help of detectives from the Santa Barbara Police Dept., then initiated an on-site investigation, which subsequently led them to 1310 Kowalski Ave. The residents of the house were informed of the investigation and agreed to accompany officers to the station for further questioning.

Once at the station, 24-year-old resident Garren Musser, provided information to detectives indicating that he was responsible for Zazueta’s death. Musser was arrested for homicide.

According to police, Musser and Zazueta were dating. The altercation that ended with Zazueta’s death escalated from an argument concerning their relationship.
