Actress Heather Locklear was arrested on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Montecito for driving while under the influence of a controlled substance.

According to an announcement issued by the California Highway Patrol, an individual spotted the “Melrose Place” star driving back and forth over a pair of sunglasses in a Montecito parking lot around 4:30 p.m. Later, the same person allegedly witnessed Locklear’s car stopped on East Valley Road, where Locklear exited the vehicle and stumbled into a lane of traffic.

According to the report, it was then that the resident reported the incident to police. When the police arrived, Locklear had moved to nearby Highway 192, where she was seated alone in the driver’s seat and was stopped in a traffic lane.

Although the report describes Locklear as appearing “disoriented,” CHP officers on the scene ruled out alcohol as the source of her intoxication.

Locklear was then arrested and taken to the Santa Barbara CHP office where a chemical test was obtained. Based on the test’s finding, Locklear was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and of being under the influence of a controlled substance. She was later released without having to post bail.
