Despite all the time we spend listening to our instructors during our time at UCSB, I really think that it’s quite a rare thing for them to actually make a dent in our lives. Judge Joseph Lodge, who passed away on Monday, was the exception to this rule. I rarely talked to him in person, but his lectures were funny and honest and he taught his students about things that are more important than anything you’ll ever learn in a textbook. I can honestly say that Criminal Justice is the only class that I’ve taken at UCSB in which I didn’t skip a single day, and despite the sad news, I’m glad that I was privileged enough to take his class while I had the chance.

Wednesday’s Forecast: in the words of Lodge himself, “each of us must find our own pathway.”
