Editor, Daily Nexus,

While we all know who won on paper, it is evident who the true victors are.

The elected individuals of Associated Students are supposed to serve the best interests of UCSB. Leaders should be accessible, accountable, qualified and transparent.

Unfortunately, some people have tainted the integrity of the election process, undermining the hard work and dedication of qualified, dedicated and ethical people. A political party as a whole is collectively responsible for actions done by any members of the party.

I wonder how it feels to win something, when you know you have stooped very low and had to resort to illegal campaign tactics.

UCSB, as a leading school in the nation, must stand firmly by its principles and ensure the fairness and legitimacy of student elections.

This is much bigger than just UCSB. We cannot set a precedent for tolerating unethical practices to achieve goals.

By our solidarity, community, support and passion, we will continue to make our mark on the university and beyond.

Watch out, we can’t stop and we won’t stop.

You may shoot me with your words,

You may cut me with your eyes,

You may kill me with your hatefulness,

But still, like air, I’ll rise.
