3. Stephen Colbert announced last week that he is running for president, but only in South Carolina’s primary elections. The truthiest of candidates is competing as both a Republican and Democrat.

4. It’s a science fiction double feature! Well, not quite. But Magic Lantern Films is showing “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” as the midnight conclusion to its Halloween Spectacular at I.V. Theater Friday night. An 8:30 showing of John Waters’ “Hairspray” will start the night off.

5. Penny Little’s film “911: Dust and Deceit” chronicles the environmental impacts of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, challenging the Environmental Protection Agency’s pronouncement that New York’s air was still safe to breathe after the attacks. Meet the filmmaker, courtesy of the Women’s Center, in Theater/Dance 1701 at 7 p.m. on Oct. 30.

6. It’s OUTrageous! The annual Santa Barbara Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Film Festival opens Nov. 1 with a series of shorts in the MultiCultural Center Theater. Come between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. to check out some of the best contemporary queer cinema out right now.
