The UCSB baseball team failed to find the effective starting pitching it needed in order to pull out a win against USC Wednesday night.
A scoreless game was broken up in the bottom of the second when USC catcher Robert Stock doubled off of senior right-handed pitcher Bryan Fleming, sending two Trojans to the plate.
UCSB battled back in the third with RBI from senior first basemen Robbie Blauer and freshman designated hitter Steve Domecus. The Trojans then answered in their next at-bats with a lead-off triple from shortstop Grant Green followed soon after with a with a 2-RBI double from J.J. Owen. UCSB continued to cut into the lead, but USC closer Paul Koss was able to earn his 16th save of the season.
