A 21-year-old man collapsed while playing a game of basketball at the Rec Cen on Monday evening, and was pronounced dead at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital shortly thereafter.
According to a UC Police Dept. statement, emergency personnel were dispatched to the Rec Cen at 9:40 p.m. on Monday. They administered first aid, but were unable to resuscitate the man. The man was not a UCSB student. UCPD is withholding the man’s name pending the notification of his next of kin.
