The citizens of Mexico will not be picking a new president until July, but local students and residents looking to learn about the election and the liberal political movements of Latin America can do so at a forum this evening in Santa Barbara.

UCSB Affiliates, a group that sponsors dozens of public outreach programs every year, will hold a town forum at 7:30 p.m. to inform community members about Mexico’s upcoming election. Speakers at the event, which will take place at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall downtown, will also address the leftist political movement that has gained popularity in Latin America over the last several years. Kathleen Bruhn, a UCSB political science associate professor, will be the featured guest speaker at the event.
