The smoke has cleared and the debris is cleaned up, but authorities still do not know why a trailer filled with hot asphalt exploded at the Santa Maria Refining Company (SMRC) on Wednesday morning.

Captain Diondray Wiley, Santa Barbara County Fire Dept. spokesman, said fire fighters spent Wednesday dealing with the aftermath of an early morning explosion at the SMRC.
