Editor, Daily Nexus,

The UCSB Dance Team is coordinating a fundraiser called the “Student Benefit Concert” to take place Saturday, April 16, at 8 p.m. in Campbell Hall. This event benefits both the UCSB Dance Team and the Isla Vista Teen Center. While the UCSB Dance Team is a new member to the Athletics Dept., they do not receive any funding or a coach. Therefore, they are not only self-funded but choreograph their own routines and compete annually in the United Spirit Association Collegiate National Competition (This year they were ranked fifth nationally!). Furthermore, while a fraction of the profits will go to benefit the UCSB Dance Team, most of the profits will go to benefit the Isla Vista Teen Center in hopes of raising enough money to start a performing arts program there. This is because most of the teens that attend this after school program do not have the financial luxury to attend high-priced dancing, acting and singing lessons.

The benefit concert will be an awesome display of student talent, starring your favorite student groups including Skyline, the male a cappella group Brothas From Otha Mothas, the female a capella group VocalMotion, a musical number from the student production of “Cabaret,” Rhythm Elite Dance Group, UCSB Dance Team and much more!

Pre-sale tickets are only $5, while tickets at the door are $10. So get your tickets now at the A.S. Ticket Office or any dance team member before we sell out. See you there!
