You can usually count on sequels to be entertaining and worthwhile. They may not possess the same freshness and originality as their predecessors, but they at least stay true to the formula that made the story a hit in the first place. Recalling such successful sequels as “The Godfather: Part II” “Aliens.” “Ghost Busters II” (still waiting on number three) and “Spider-Man 2” you should know what a good sequel feels like. With that in mind, we now turn now to this year’s most disgraceful sequel and soon-to-be on the top 10 worst sequels of all time list: “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.”
Let’s get this out of the way: “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” was like having two hours of acid reflux where you get those burps with the little bit of vomit which you’re forced to just chew back down. Original author Helen Fielding and scriptwriter Andrew Davies fail to capture the charm and wit of the first film. R
